Introducing myself

Dear blog reader,
This being my very first attempt at reaching out to you and so many other nameless and faceless readers, I think it only appropriate to introduce myself and hope, in the course of time, to get to know you via your reactions to my publications.
As a retired English teacher and superintendent of Catholic schools in Curacao, I began a language bureau (Languages Unlimited) in 1996 and stopped its activities in 2006 when I realized that I could no longer combine running a language company - offering evening courses and corporate language training - while the urge to write largely dominated my emotional life, leaving me little room to dedicate myself wholeheartedly to the complexity of my business.
By that time I had already published my first collection of poems in 4 languages ('Entrega') in October, 2000 and my first novel ('Election Dance') in June, 2006.
This year I published my 2nd novel ('The Yard') in January, which I presented to the Curacao public at UNA on March 10 to a capacity crowd.
I am now awaiting the decision by my publisher as to the publication of the revised edition of 'Election Dance' in Dutch (the re-writing of which I did myself) as 'Verkiezingsdans'.
I am now on the point of starting on my 3rd novel, but this time in Dutch.

The purpose of this blog is to share with you parts of my literary work, both from published and as yet unpublished material, as well as my views on matters concerning the themes discussed therein. I also hope to present works by other writers and poets and to offer you my and their opinions on literary publications that may be of interest to you.

This will suffice for the moment until I visit you again, when I will give you a taste of my poetry and one or two passages from my novels.
Until then,

The usual best

Que este muy bien
